sideshowfreak™ formed over many years. I was an avid fan of the darker comic books such as SWAMP THING, and CREEPY since the early days, while I was also engaged in learning music. I grew up with cross media artists like Bowie, and Genesis. And I love the kind of LO-FI aesthetic in both art and music.
I had all these grand ideas, but bitter reality was TIME and MONEY. It took me years to save money to buy studio equipment, which was EXPENSIVE in the day. I recorded an EP, or extended play record, and wrote a sort of DIY comic book experiment, released this in the mid 90s (finally) after years of working, saving, learning, writing, suffering!
But HERE WE ARE, here right here and NOW! technology came with us! The same shifts in industry and tech that led to the UNDERGROUND, has led to the DEATH OF THE MUSIC BUSINESS. May it REST IN PEACE. So now again, and even larger group of people have access to the tools to be creative.
So now, over 30 years later, I am embarking on developing these stories more, illustrating them, trying to continue the challenge of CREATING… those pesky STORIES and SOUNDS, that keep invading my waking world, straight from THE COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS to my tiny brain.
