Dancing Near the Edge Words & Music by Chris Miller Copyright (c) 1996-2004 DoublePlanet.com All Rights Reserved Outside, just beyond the window there's a ring of stones overlooked by a willow. Sometimes glimpsed thru forest hedge I see it now down by the river's edge. Just when I thought I'd gotten over those dreams they return ever stronger to haunt me, it seems. On clear nights that're witch-moon dark the evening star lights this place, elementals talk. Faery maiden dancing beckons there. Starlight shimmers in her golden hair. Just when I thought I'd seen an end to those days, her eyes, dark wells reflect starlight and she says... " Come with me out of time and space- tread barefoot on the ledge- skip from earth to root to stone- I like dancing near the edge." Then she laughs while I'm transfixed. I hold back yet with feelings mixed. She dances from the ring, turns at the shore. I see her eyes, I can stay no more. Just when I thought I could stay in peace she beckons and to her my heart flees. Just when I thought the dream was at an end I'm caught there again and I can never come back again. To that place out of time and space tread barefoot on a ledge skip from earth to root to stone. It's fun dancing near the edge. To the place where the willow sleeps and a dream lies on the land. Thru dark woods to faery deeps walk naked on the sand. Dancing near the edge.
